Risa Shiramine (白峯理沙, lit. Shiramine Risa?), also known as Sally (サリ, lit. Sarī?) in the VRMMORPG NewWorld Online, is a main protagonist in BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense.
Risa is Kaede Honjou's gamer best friend who invited her to NewWorld Online, having recommended to her a few games before. However, she wasn't able to play with her at that time due to being forbidden by her mother to play.
She is a professional gamer, having numerous achievements that proved her capabilities. Risa took on the swashbuckler class, though her reflexes are still considered abnormal even with her ridiculous AGI.
Appearance[]
Risa is a healthy girl. She has light brown eyes and light brown hair.
In the real world, Risa is often seen in her sleeping attire, which is a yellow nightshirt that reaches to her upper part of her legs, with her hair let down. Most of the time, her hair is held up with a white ribbon, with bangs framing her face, roughly reaching her shoulders.
Her school uniform is a white shirt with a red necktie, she has a beige sweater tied at her waist, a plaid grey skirt and black kneehigh socks and loafers. In the manga and the second season ending, she wears the school's blue blazer with the sweater below it (only in the winter though).
Risa is one of the younger, shorter members of Maple Tree, only 3 in. (10 cm) taller than Kaede.
Personality[]
Risa is an extroverted, calm and friendly individual, who is addicted to games. In-game, she is cautious and practical, a reflection of her past experience with other games. At times, she also has a peculiar way of thinking but not on the level of Kaede's, evidenced by her choice to become a swashbuckler so that she and Maple would never take any damage— with Maple tanking attacks and Sally evading attacks, both denying damage— as opposed to the more conventional choice of becoming a mage so she could support Maple from the backline.
Risa is very fired up in highly competitive situations such as PvP, becoming aggressive and irrational, such as when she went out of her way to slaughter players towards the end of the second event, even though she knew she wouldn't get that many silver medals. One can speculate that Risa enjoys sports in general, as she has great reflexes, and the fact that she is a good swimmer.
She is phasmophobic, terrified of ghosts and also other horror-related things in general.
Background[]
Risa is the best friend of Kaede Honjou, who happens to be addicted to games and is a professional gamer. She has recommended a few games to Kaede before, but she did not commit herself to play those games until Risa recommended to her NewWorld Online, the new popular VRMMORPG.
As Sally, she is motivated by her desire to see Maple succeed and develop, though broken and overpowered at times. Still, she strives to keep up with her, being a veteran gamer herself, using her wit and strategic cunning to her and her guild's advantage.
