Maple Tree (楓の木) is a guild that was founded by Maple and Sally shortly after the appearances of the third floor and the Guild system. They are quite infamous in the in-game world of NewWorld Online, noted by many to have abnormal qualities that bring them far above those who play normally.

History

Per-Guild

Maple began game breaking and powering up to riduculous extremes, all due to the fact she was ignorant of how video games in general worked and kept acquiring skills meant for higher leveled players (all due to her sheer dumb luck). This lead to her winning third place in the First Event, thanks in part to the dimwittedness of the other players trying to attack her despite being heavily outclassed by her armor skills. Maple later formed a party with her best friend Sally, whom likewise got an impressive character build and armor set from sheer luck; though this was the game stat for Luck/Dexterity.

Due to the chaos Maple was causing to all their scripting and settings, the developers began nerfing her abilities as soon as she got them; quickly rendering her unlimited and overpowered Devour to a usage of only 10 times a day and added piercing damage attacks and weapons to the game in order to get past her defense. However, Maple continued to raise her defense stat with each level up and equipment upgrade she got, rendering their effots all for nothing.

By the time of the Second Event, the two were equally powerful as regular-sized parties. This lead to them taking down an meant-to-be impossible to beat boss, obtaining two seceret rare pets before the event for them came into play. The developers all but gave up at this point with trying to stop Maple, but instead started focusing on insurng that Maple couldnt get any weird power ups from skill prizes. (This failed, as Maple would find strange and even odder combinations with her skills that they never thought of.)

Founding

During the time Kaede was readjusting to real life after multiple embarrassing situations at school, the game introduced a number of updates, one of which was the chance for players to create their own Guilds. Risa managed to acquire a golden medal after the Guilds were added into the game in order to purchase a guild home of their own.

After logging in, Maple was informed of the changes during her three-day break, and unsurprisingly, she became excited as she and Sally went on to search for a new guild home. In the anime, their base is shown as a tree with a hollow interior, complete with wooden walls, floors and furniture. In the web novel, not much is described about their guild house, but it was explicitly stated that it was far away from the city.

Functions

The guild home allows for a maximum of fifty members inside it. Also, as purchasing a guild home provides accesses to the home on each floor, Maple Tree can access their guild home in different floors presumably without effort.

In the web novel, Sally and Maple took Mai and Yui to their guild home on the first floor and talked there. This scene is changed in the anime, changing the place of the guild home to the cafe they ate in instead. Regardless once again, after accepting their request, the four made their way to the guild home on the third floor.

Events

The defeat of Silverwing by Maple and Sally alone was an early indicator of how absurd the future Maple Tree was going to be. This boss was meant to be UNBEATABLE and took out Chrome's original party within MINUTES

Though the guild was not yet established, Maple, Kasumi, and Chrome all ranked in the top ten during the first event. Unlike Kasumi and Chrome, who won their places with skill and stategy, Maple blundred into third place thanks to all the players who couldn't take the hint it was a bad idea to go after her.

During the second event, Maple and Sally defeated Silverwing, a boss near-impossible to beat; even the developers noted that NO-ONE was ever supposed to beat it. Granted this nearly did kill them, with only Maple's recently aquired survival skill saving them. This lead to Syrup and Oboro being added to theire team.

Before the third event, the guild was established with the recruiting of Kasumi and Chrome, along with Iz and Kanade. Maple Tree was easily able to acquire the highest ranked guild reward for their efforts and hard work. Maple herself wondered off into an old church scene, where she fought a demon and ate it, gaining another power up; much to the shock of her guild.

During the fourth event, Maple Tree devised the plan to get the other smaller guilds to attack each other, with Sally, Chrome, Iz and Kanade stealing the orbs and running though the other guilds; leading to a major success. Dred found their hideout, allowing the top players of Holy Swords to attack the guild after his defeat and respawn; though they were no match for Maple's Atrocity. Maple Tree attempted to go after Flame Emperor's orb, but gave up on it as they managed to send the orb away while Maple caused the defeat of Mii, Misery and their trap master. With only mid ranking guilds left, Maple Tree decided to take out all the weaker guilds with Holy Swords and Flame Emperor helping. This resulted in the event being practically over before the time limit was up.

Current Benefits

All members have a bonus of [STR]+3% from the prize they won in the third event. It is mounted on the wall of prizes inside their guild house, which resembles a cow's head.

Trivia

• Their guild houses appears a lot bigger on the inside; as previously stated, it can fit 50 members. Plus Kasumi is seen to have a private room, while Iz has a place to craft.
• Maple Tree may have the least members of the highest ranked Guilds, but they are more than a match for the Flame Emperors and Holy Swords.
• Even after the Seventh Event, the guild hasn't grown in membership.
  • Considering the footage of the Fourth Event showed most of the members are one person armies, it gave off the chilling idea Maple Tree is full of powerful eccentrics; unintentionally making them feared, as no one knows what Maple does to get such insane power ups.
