Mai (マイ), or May, is the older twin sister of [1] Yui are recruited in town on the 1st layer. In the anime, they are recruited when the news about the 3rd and 4th events is released.[2] In the web novel, they're recruited after the guild members have moved up to the 3rd layer.[3] They hesitate but happily join Maple Tree.
Appearance[]
She is a petite girl with black eyes and hair reaching just beneath her shoulders. She has a flat chest.[1] In the anime and Light Novel, Mai has green eyes, and her hair has green highlights as well.
Personality[]
Mai has a careful personality in contrast to her younger twin sister Yui. These twins are good girls and do their best to help everyone. They're ambitious and want to become strong to stand next to Maple with their power.[1]
Plot[]
Early in the show, she debates with her sister Yui whether potions or gear would be a better investment. Later, the twins were scouted together by Maple and joined Maple Tree.
Description[]
These twins are a major gap. They wear pretty clothes while wielding rugger hammers. They have small bodies, but high attack power, as demonstrated when they destroyed a table right after Maple introduced the recruits to the rest of her guild.[1]
History[]
In the real world, Mai and her younger sister Yui are physically weak and lack muscles. Because of this, they chose to max out their strength so they could easily move around.[3]
Abilities[]
Because of the twins' high attack, Iz made iron balls the size of basketballs for them to throw. Between their stats and the support of the throw skill, they're practically launching cannonballs barehanded.[4] This attack only takes one hit to destroy weapons and shields.

Etymology[]
- The name Mai (2) is written in katakana (マイ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (舞, 麻衣, or 真愛), it could mean:
- 舞 - "dance".
- 麻衣 - "linen robe".
- 真愛 - "real, genuine" (真) (ma) and "love, affection" (愛) (ai), which means "true love" altogether.
