Maxing Defense, Level 5, and Level 6 is the second episode of the second season of the BOFURI anime series.
Summary[]
The members of the Maple Tree guild (Minus Maple) face off and win against the Level 4 boss. Maple was unable to fight alongside her team due to catching a cold.
Eventually, Maple recovered from her cold and was rearing to fight against the 4th-level boss. However, Nobody in her guild could help her, so she decided to fight it herself.
Reaching the Oni Tower, to what Maple believed was the entrance of the Level 4 boss, Maple teleports to an area where several iron clubs are scattered around the area. The boss who sat at the nearby temple greeted Maple, and the two faced off against the other. Although Maple utilizes her Machine God skill and Syrup against the boss; however, those skills aren't enough to defeat the boss. Left with no other choice, Maple uses her Break Core skill against the boss to defeat him. The boss would then throw a small party for Maple, congratulating her for defeating him and allowing her to gain the Pandemonium I skill.
Outside of the Oni Tower, Maple is discouraged that she doesn't find the actual Level 4 boss and is soon met by Frederica, Drag, Dred, and others. After learning why Maple didn't hadn't defeated the Level 4 boss, she temporarily joins their party to face off against the actual boss. From the start, Maple uses Loving Sacrifice on the party, granting them practically full immunity against it; however, Maple mercilessly defeats it with her newly acquired Pandemonium skill.
Reaching Level 5, Maple finds Yui and Mai bouncing on the level's bouncy ground. She then learns that the two of them were defeated by the Thunder Mask boss there, so Maple helps them fight and defeat it, thereby granting her yet another new skill Throne of the Heavenly King.
Afterward, Maple would spend time with Mai and Yui exploring Level 5, until they regroup with their guild mates to face off against the level's boss, the Giant Jellyfish. Said boss is easily beaten by Mai and Yui who pummel it with their hammers granting the guild access to Level 6. The theme of Level 6 is horror, something that notably perturbs Sally.
Back in the real world, Kaede talks with Risa about if she's up to challenging the level, which she's obviously not. However, she has second thoughts after learning there are shoes that allow players to fly when worn can be obtained there. Joined by Maple, the pair head into a haunted mansion that they are inevitably forced to escape. Although Sally earns the skill Connection to the Underworld for staying there for a certain amount of time.
In the real world again, Risa planned to take a bath and finds a note from her mom informing Risa that her parents aren't at home. Still feeling disconcerted by her experience in the haunted mansion, Risa contacts Kaede to help alleviate her fear while she takes a bath.
