Defense and Attack is the tenth of the BOFURI anime series.

Summary

Payne, guild leader of the Holy Swords, eliminates several members of a rival guild and then meets up with Drag, who reveals to him how many orbs he's collected thus far. Drag counts that Payne has managed to collect approx. twenty orbs thus far, and notes that Payne was interested in targeting the Maple Tree guild next.

Meanwhile, at the Maple Tree Guild Base, Maple celebrates collecting ten orbs thus far, and Kasumi notes that they're in 17th place so far. Deciding to hunt for more orbs, Sally, along with Oboro, scout out more guilds to hunt down.

Following Sally's lead, Kanade decides to go orb hunting himself and manages to snatch one from a guild base. Kasumi, Chrome, and Iz eventually go orb hunting as Sally's hunt racks up ten orbs on her own. However, right when she decides to return home, Sally is surrounded by Frederica's forces. Back to Kasumi's side, Shin of the Kingdom of the Flame Emperor Guild challenges her to a fight.

Returning to Sally's side, she was exhausted from her orb hunting, but still managed to hold off Fredrica's forces, and soon Maple arrived to aid her. With her combined skills as the Hydra and Machine Lord, Maple greatly assisted Sally in her time of need.

However, this left only Mai and Yui to defend the base, and Dred infiltrates and defeats the twins. Before Dred can steal the base orbs, Maple, accompanied by Sally, manages to stop and defeat him, but not before he vows to return with his comrades.

Meanwhile, Kasumi using her sword skill Void defeats Shin, who accepts defeat, but hopes to challenge Kasumi again during the event.

Back at the base, Sally and Kanade turn in their orbs, and Sally reveals a map she had created, revealing all of the guild locations. Amid her explanation, Sally faints, and while Sally recuperates, Maple, May, and Yui pilfer guild orbs and launch an attack on the Flame Emperors. After breaking through all the traps, they eventually face off against Mii, Markus, and Misery.

Trivia & Notes

• Maple Tree decides on their formation
  • Maple, Yui, and Mai stay to protect the orbs while the rest of the Guild splits up; Sally, Kasumi, and Kanade go solo, while Iz supports Chrome.
  • The group later switches to Maple, Yui, and Mai going on the offensive, allowing the others time to rest and throw off any potential rumors about who from Maple Tree is out hunting orbs. If everyone thinks it's just Maple, they can use that fear as misdirection to allow others the element of surprise.
• Dred knows where Maple Tree is hiding, meaning the Congregation of the Holy Swords can launch an attack at any point.
