Dred (ドレッド Doreddo, alt. Dread) is a player in NewWorld Online and a supporting character in the BOFURI series. He is a the member of the Congregation of the Holy Swords guild[1] and ranked second in the 1st event.[2]
He is an adult male with dark skin, short black hair, and black eyes. His arms and legs are long and nimble. He has a sharp intuition. His style puts focus on high speed and moderate attack power.[1]
Dred's instincts tell him that he's not an opponent for Payne and Maple.[3]
Plot[]
Introductory Arc[]
Dred ranked second among the competitors during the 1st event.[2][4]
Guild Founding Arc[]
Shortly after the 4th event was announced, the Congregation of the Holy Swords held a meeting to discuss the upcoming event.[5]
Guild Competition Arc[]
While collecting guild orbs, Dred noticed Sally and sent his other guild members back to take the orbs they collected. Because his instincts told him she was dangerous, he wanted to eliminate her. After a short exchange, Dred trusted his intuition and quickly retreated.[3][6]
After receiving Frederica's message, Dred charged into Maple Tree to take their orb. Because he underestimated Mai and Yui, his survival skill was triggered. After defeating the dangerous twins, Maple arrived home in time to prevent him from taking their orb. Dred dies while cursing Frederica's poor information.[7][8]
Payne, Dred, Drag, Frederica, and 15 other members from the Congregation of the Holy Swords worked together to attack Maple Tree because they believed its members had exhausted all their powerful skills.[9]
Dred worked together to keep the members of Maple Tree from supporting Maple. Dred's [Godspeed] was transferred to Payne for the encounter. After Maple unleashed [Atrocity], Dred was captured and accepted his fate as he closed his eyes and was defeated.[9][10]
During the chaotic battle at the Kingdom of the Flame Emperor, the Congregation of the Holy Swords planned to take advantage of Maple, who had gained the aggro of players assaulting the Kingdom of the Flame Emperor. Their ambush was thwarted as Maple swiftly used [Atrocity] and was multiplied to 7 with Kanade and Sally's [Phantom World!].[11]
Dred was friend listed by Maple after the guild competition event and attended the Maple Tree after-party.[12]
Eighth Event Arc[]
Dred and Drag met up during the 8th event's preliminary round and worked as a team to increase their points. They encountered Kanade shortly after and did their best to eliminate him from the competition.[13]
During the main event, he was seperated and paired up with Payne. He eventually joined up with Sally, Drag, Yui, Kanade, and Frederica and became part of the three guild alliance. Dred then joined Marx, Mai and Yui to take down a dungeon, avoided most of the monsters thanks to Shadow and took down a large Electric Catfish boss. On the third day, the three guilds took down Cthulhu together.
Anime Exclusives[]
Before Maple and Sally moved to the 2nd layer, they bought sweets at a cafe. Dred overheard their conversation and discussed various things with them.[2]

- Super Acceleration (alt. Super Speed):[3] AGI +50. Cooldown: 30 minutes.
- Shinsoku (Alt. Godspeed):[3] Grants the user the speed of a god. This power was set with the belief that the speed of a god should not be something a human can process, so he became invisible for 10 seconds.
Passive Skills[]
- ?:[8] An unnamed survival skill that allowed Dred to survive with 1 HP when Mai and Yui should have defeated him.
